Nepal-America Film Society (NAFS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which works to bridge culture and knowledge through film. The Film Society was founded by a group of media professionals, filmmakers, and film enthusiasts in America.  It creates a platform for film culture by organizing film screening, festival, conference, and filmmaker exchange program.

The Film Society has announced the first Nepal-America International Film Festival-2017 (NAIFF) which takes place on 5-7 May 2017 in Washington DC metro area.  The Festival showcases all genres of films including feature films, documentaries, animation, experimental, and short films.

The main objective of the Film Festival is to bridge Nepali and American culture through film. The festival has primarily focused films from Nepal made by the Nepali and Non-Nepali filmmakers under the Nepal section. Films made in South Asia, America and other parts of the world also will be included and screened in the festival. In addition, discussions and workshops will be organized on various themes such as Nepali Diaspora and Film. Film screenings will be followed by Q&A with special guest or filmmaker based on availability. Films selected by juries will be awarded and the participated films will be recognized in the festival.

The festival will be organized in partnership with Nepali Diaspora organizations of America, film organizations, film festivals, and personals from Nepal, America and across the world. The festival also has aimed to establish as a platform for developing a film-culture of Nepali Diaspora in America.

Therefore, the organization appeals you all to make it successful festival, and also request to the film makers from across the world along with Nepali and immigrant filmmakers. The address for submitting films is available on website and social media sites of the organization.

Volunteer Opportunity:

Nepal America International Film Festival (NAIFF), an annual film event organized by Nepal America Film Society, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, is looking for volunteers from Washington DC metro area (Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC). We will also welcome volunteers from across the United States who has commitment and passion for supporting art, culture and cinema.

The Volunteers will have key role to make a successful film festival event. We have following volunteer opportunity based on your time schedule, commitment and enthusiasm.

FILM FESTIVAL PREPARATION:

Before starting the film festival, you can join with us as a volunteer for Marketing and Promotions of the film festival. We will provide oppertunity for the volunteers to use their expertise of promotion by using different social media and other publicity tools (Poster, Flyers etc.). We have a lot of opportunity for the volunteers for communicating with sponsor, community organization,  and international guests. Volunteers can support to the overall management of the festival. From the begining to the end of the festival,  volunteers will get an incredible festival work experience.

 THE FESTIVAL PRODUCTION:

During the film festival event, there are numbers of volunteer opportunities. At the very beginning of the festival, opening ceremony and red carpet will be held. Volunteers will assign a certain task to perform such as,  greeting guests, checking will call or taking tickets at the entrance.  They will support for box office, theater operations, sales and distribution of tickets, including collecting cash, running credit cards, and end-of-shift reporting. You will be updated with venues and films to answer any questions from movie-goers. There will be orientation program for volunteers before film festival.
